Few points of caution

On the way to Leh, you will come across Pang which is technically on the border of J&K and HP. The oxygen in this particular base is very low and hence almost 70% of people feel nauseated. Thought the local camps try to make it as comfortable as possible for you but still so not attempt to stay here unless really necessary.

Drink lots and lots of water. Even though you have to take frequent pee breaks, still you need to at least consume 6 litres of water. Reason being; our body needs oxygen, the oxygen content in air is pretty low due to higher altitude. The only other way of getting oxygen for your body is water. If you are still considerate, carry portable oxygen cylinders. You surely will need it in some parts of the ride.

Don’t be Macho. The cold here is not your usual pleasant cold. Do not let is enter your body. Cover as much as possible at all times while riding. Do not drink alcohol and ride as it can be fatal.Be considerate towards the locals.

It’s always best to rent a motorcycle from Delhi OR you can check www.rideindia.co.in for motorcycle rentals. This will help you optimize the total trip cost and help you spend better on other aspects of your ride.

Do not overload your motorcycle. See to it that the load is properly balanced on both sides. Be considerate towards the pillion. Pillions tend to get more fatigue since there is zero activity in the backseat.

Carry a lot of sunscreen with SPF50, cold creams and Lip creams. Carry Glucon-D, dryfruits& Chocolates which are a rich source of energy, preferably snickers.

Well, that’s all folks! We have tried our level best to provide you with appropriate pointers that will help you plan your ride better. Remember, there is not perfect or standard way to plan such rides. It all depends on how inclined you are towards exploring stuff and how well you are prepared for it. Be open to advices given by senior riders who have been there done that. But do not follow it like a roadmap, you can always apply your instincts and make the ride better for you. It does not matter what motorcycle you ride, it does not matter what brand riding gear you buy, it does not matter what route you choose; only thing that matters is that one moment when you witness something which is beyond description, that one moment when you ‘find’ yourself, that one moment when you feel, you have finally arrived!
