Touring Motorcycles we would like to have in India

Probably since a decade or more, Motorcycle touring has found its firm roots within a segment of Indian population. The paradigm gradually shifted from people using 100cc motorcycles giving a whopping 80 kms/ltr to 350cc motorcycles reaching a mileage of 40-45 kms/ltr. Still, this was a situation around couple of years back. Today, people are even ready to shell out bigger chunk of their income for two-wheelers that can provide long touring comfort to attain their so called “hobby” or “riding passion”. Such a segment have accepted  to compromise on factors like fuel efficiencyand price, provided the motorcycle is giving great riding comfort, bigger engine and some gizmos to play around with. Motorcycle touring is already an established concept in the developed countries. Be thankful to companies like BSA, HD, Indian& Triumph who in initial stages developed this market that encouraged people to shift their focus from doing family drives in a Station wagon to riding on a motorcycle and attending that much required solace from personal and professional life. Needless to say, the Japanese, British & German contenders had to shift their focus in building more powerful and comfortable motorcycles for this segment.

In this article we present a wish list of some of the best touring two-wheelers that we would probably see soon in the Indian market. To keep the wish list more realistic we have kept the Giants like Honda Goldwing or Harley Davidson Street Glide as outliers. What we have here is a list of touring machines that are grand yet not so heavy on the pocket (comparatively).

BMW F800GT – Grand Tourer
